A Women Rising, from the (Wahine Matike Series) is a collection about rising above, to be seen and heard as a independent Maori women. How the Taonga provides strength through all stages in life. I draw inspiration through the Pounamu pieces to create my very own special Taonga.

Natalie Kere is a multi-disciplinary artist located in Aotearoa New Zealand. Her work represents her connection to Māori culture, the indigenous people of the land. Her use of contemporary materials to emulate the natural characteristics of pounamu (greenstone), a stone prized for its beauty and resilience, is an example of binding ancestral influence into modern practice. Her work is a fusion of resin and paint, encased within metal, maximising the fine details of the stone to give the viewer an immediate understanding of its intricacies.
