Form, proportion, surface texture, and colour are what drive the work. My influences run through Scandinavian ceramics and mid-century studio pottery. I run wheel throwing and handbuilding classes from my Nelson studio for all levels, and teaching has become as central to my practice as the making itself. There's something particular about watching someone find their footing with clay, the focus it demands, the small breakthroughs, the moment something finally holds its shape.
